Areola tattoo is applied to create, enhance, or restore symmetry and colour of the areola(s) and/or nipple(s) after breast surgery - including, but not limited to: breast augmentation, breast reconstruction, breast revision, breast reduction, breast lift, lumpectomy, and mastectomy.
Certain types of breast cancer require one or both of the natural breasts to be removed by mastectomy surgery. After recovery, some patients undergo breast reconstruction surgery. The reconstructed breasts sometimes have a "nipple" created using grafted tissue, but are missing the pigmentation of the areola. Other reconstructed breasts are completely smooth with no "nipple" projection.
BREAST RECONSTRUCTION WITHOUT NIPPLE:
3D Areola restoration tattoos use shading techniques to create the illusion of nipple projection on a flat tissue surface. We add skin wrinkles and montgomery glands to create a hyper-realistic appearance.
BREAST AND NIPPLE RECONSTRUCTION:
Sometimes the reconstructed breast only requires pigmentation to create an areola; however, we often incorporate 3D shading techniques to further enhance the appearance of the nipple and areola.
BREAST LIFT | REDUCTION | AUGMENTATION:
Areola tattooing is used to minimize the appearance of scarring, tissue necrosis, and asymmetry after surgery. Scar camouflage is a better approach for certain types of scarring.
